Welcome to the Avon Catchment Council

The Avon Catchment Council (ACC) is one of 57 regional Natural Resource Management (NRM) groups across Australia. The ACC is the regional NRM group for the Avon River Basin located in the heart of the Western Australia agricultural region.

The Avon NRM Strategy 2005-2050 outlines the long term management of natural resources for the Avon Region. The Avon Catchment Council is the custodian of this Avon NRM Strategy, however many natural resource management related organisations in the region have aligned their activities to this Strategy.

State and Federal Governments through a bilateral agreement provide investment through the Natural Heritage Trust (NHT) and National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality (NAP) which has allowed the Avon Catchment Council to develop an Investment Plan and deliver projects for 2005-2008 aligned to the Avon NRM Strategy.

The Avon Catchment Council also administers the National Landcare Programme in the Avon River Basin.

Our vision is for healthy landscapes, livelihoods and communities through sustainable use, enhancement and conservation of natural resources in the Avon River Basin for current and future generations.
