Members

The Avon Catchment Council consists of nine community members, three from each sub-region, six agency members, two Indigenous NRM Members and three Local Government Members. Community members nominate for a position on Council and Local Government Authorities and Conservation District Committees vote when there is more than one nominee for the position. The Chair of the ACC is a community member, elected by Council Members.

In 2005, five new positions were created on Council. These include three representing Local Government, one Member elected from each of the sub-regions and two Indigenous Member positions elected in a similar way to the Community Members.

These members are joined by a senior representative from each of the Departments of Agriculture, Conservation and Land Management, Main Roads, the Department of Environment, the Wheatbelt Development Commission and the Department of Eduction and Training.

Council meet bi-monthly and are involved in regular discussion of current issues and participate in the decision making process. All members are encouraged to be active in Council committees and events, as well as other community groups or organisations they wish to be involved with.
